Louise Sinclair

Friends, it’s with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of Louise Sinclair on July 10, 2018. For the past 16 years, the Festival has had the great good fortune to have Louise as one of its primary members. Louise played a central role in the success of the Festival – sourcing and selling our authors’ books, keeping our financial books, and being the quiet, calm centre of our activities. While the whole community mourns her passing, we at The Readers’ Festival mourn her as a cherished member of our literary enterprise. We shall miss her skills and her wry sense of humour, but more than that we shall miss her grace. We feel very fortunate to have known her.

Louise is survived by her husband, Dan, who worked tirelessly by her side throughout. Dan has personified grace under pressure in recent months. We have been deeply touched by the calm acceptance he showed while nursing Louise through her final illness, and we have drawn strength from his example.

Louise was also active in many other ways around the community. She curated the art show that was on display at Seely Hall this month. The main exhibition space on the ground floor of Seely Hall has been named “The Dan and Louise Sinclair Room” in recognition of the great and discrete contribution of Dan and Louise to the Medway area for more than two decades.

Please join us in mourning the death and celebrating the life of Louise Sinclair.
